Development and Investment

in Technologies for

Biological Weed Control

Main Goal

We are seeking new technologies to invest in and develop for the production of herbicides that can effectively control weed growth. After a thorough search and selection process, our aim is to facilitate the formation of partnerships and co-development of the selected technologies with our partner, a large multinational biotechnology company.

About the Challenge

Weeds can have a significant negative impact on crop production, attracting pests and diseases, increasing production costs, and reducing productivity, often resulting in crop losses of up to 90%. Therefore, it is crucial to pursue technological advancements and studies that allow for sustainable control of these plants.

Who can participate?

Research groups, researchers and scientists

We welcome participation from research groups, researchers, and scientists with projects under development within Universities, Research, Innovation, and Technology Institutions that align with our mapping verticals and search needs.

Startups and companies

We encourage startups and companies with projects under development that align with one or more of the mapping verticals and search needs to apply.

Mapping schedule

1. Registration of technologies

Finished stage

We are mapping technologies or research groups with the competence to develop a project related to new herbicides for weed control.

Technologies can be at any level of development maturity, requiring only a laboratory-level proof of concept of the basic principle.

2. Technology selection and feedback

april/25 – may/20

We will select technologies/groups for the development of partnership proposals.

Emerge’s team will monitor the selected technologies for the development of partnership proposals throughout the process, providing guidance and assistance for the construction of the proposal and its presentation.

Do you have a technology related to the biological control of weeds?

FAQ

Absolutely! Even if your technology doesn’t fit into the specific verticals listed, it’s still eligible for the evaluation process and could potentially be selected for the program.

Yes, both registration and participation in the project are completely free for all participants. Initially, all interactions will be virtual, but if physical presence is required, further discussions will take place between the teams and the project’s partner companies.

No, it is not mandatory to own or establish a company to apply. Scientists, universities, and research groups are also welcome to submit their technologies.

No, in the initial stage, technologies selected for the project will not have their intellectual property assigned nor will it provide for company participation or equity. Opportunities for collaboration between technology and the company may be discussed at a later stage.

No, Emerge is not obligated to invest in your technology or company. The program’s objective is to promote interaction between scientists and entrepreneurs with partner companies.

The evaluation process timeline will vary depending on the number of submissions received. The selected technologies will be announced after the evaluation process is complete. All participants will be notified of their selection status.

Yes, you can submit multiple technologies for evaluation. However, each technology must be submitted separately, and each submission will be evaluated independently.

The partner companies will offer a range of support, including mentorship, access to resources and expertise, and networking opportunities. The exact level of support will depend on the needs of each selected technology and the availability of the partner companies.
